Don't blame Republicans for defeat of 9/11 bill
Email sent to Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi
November 21, 2004
Quit lying to the American public and placing the blame on the Republicans for the 9/11 bill not passing.
This Democrat and tens of thousands of American citizens know that Senator Lieberman proposed that the 13 states which currently allow drivers licenses for illegals would be grandfathered in and continue to be havens for foreign terrorists, criminal and other illegal aliens.
Senator Lieberman also is said to have made a statement that we should not do anything to inconvenience illegal aliens by taking away the use of the Mexican Government issued "matricula consular" ID card that is issued to illegal aliens or state issued drivers licenses, which H.R. 10 would have done.
It would have been too bad that illegals would not have access to something they have not legally earned. Democratic Senators and Representatives have fought tooth and nail to keep the immigration provisions of H.R. 10 as passed by the House out of the final bill.
To say that the Republicans are responsible for the bill not passing is a blatant lie and you know it. If it weren't for several loyal Americans in the Republican party this bill would have passed, however, it would have passed by excluding the immigration provisions that the House passed in H.R. 10 and America would not be any safer and our borders would not be any more secure now than it was before 9/11.
The Democrats MUST STOP playing politics with our nations security and sovereignty and help pass some immigration laws with enough teeth in them to stop illegal aliens from streaming across our Southern border. You need to put our nations security ahead of attempting to pass legislation to give amnesty to the 10 -12 million illegal aliens presently residing in the U.S.
For once, be honest and let the Democrats take the blame for the bill not passing. If you would have let the immigration provisions of H.R. 10 remain in tact in the bill, the bill would have passed and been headed for the President to sign.
NO IMMIGRATION PROVISIONS, NO BILL. NOT NOW, NOT EVER WITHOUT CONGRESS DOING SOMETHING TO PROTECT AMERICA FROM ILLEGAL ALIENS AND TERRORISTS CROSSING OUR UNPROTECTED BORDERS.
By the way, if you and Senator Lieberman are not aware of it, having between 10 and 12 million illegal aliens residing in the U.S. is a great inconvenience to the American tax payers who have to pick up the tab for their medical bills, food stamps and all the benefits that the get that are not giving to U.S. citizens.
Sincerely,
Leon
