Retired inspector's battles over illegal immigration issues
July 2004
I will most certainly use your version of the letter to send to the RNC. This is an issue that makes my blood boil. I was a U.S. Customs Service Inspector at the Hidalgo and Pharr, Texas, Ports of Entry.
I had many battles over illegal immigration issues with my Supervisors and with Supervisors of the Immigration an Legalization Service. They did not want to decline anyone entry into the United States because they were afraid of the backlash should someone write a letter to Congressman Hinojosa and other congressmen before him.
Of course, Congressman Hinojosa and others thought that the Mexican citizens were his constituents and he would represent them over the U. S.citizens performing their duty to country on the border with Mexico.
